Sister Smerilli’s Video Message Celebrates 125 Years of BCC Nettuno
On the occasion of the Tempo del Creato, an event will take place tonight at 8 PM in Piazza Guglielmo Marconi, Nettuno (Rome), on the theme “Religions, Economy, and Work: A Shared Commitment to Social Justice and Legality,” organized by the Diocesan Office for Ecumenism and Interreligious Dialogue of the Diocese of Albano, in collaboration with the Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Nettuno.
The event will feature the Bishop of Albano, Vincenzo Viva, sociologist Marco Omizzolo, and representatives of the Sikh community of Lavinio.
The event is held in celebration of the 125th anniversary of the founding of BCC Nettuno, established by Don Temistocle Signori, who aimed to create a rural bank for the less affluent agricultural workers of the area to protect them from illegality, exploitation, and oppression.
The evening will focus on the necessary joint commitment of religions and institutions to promote justice and an economy for the common good.
Sister Alessandra Smerilli, Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development and advisor of the Center for Higher Education Laudato Si’, has sent a video message of greeting and direction that will open the event.
