“Every time Francis would gaze at the sun, the moon or the smallest animals, he burst into song, drawing all other creatures into his praise” (LS 11). Wonder and awe is a great gift, and it would be nice if each of us always carried it within ourselves. Wonder and awe allows us to look beyond things, to see their greatness, to make us feel good, to consider ourselves beloved children of a good Father who makes us feel loved all the time: “When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars you set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and a son of man that you care for him? Yet, you have made him little less than a god, crowned him with glory and honor” (Psalm 8:4-6).
