Among all creatures, trees are the ones that human culture and devotion have given the role of mediating between earth and God (LS 9), “subtle” creatures in which the Spirit is particularly close and perceived by those who are willing to listen to him. They are biblical trees of Life and primordial cosmic trees. At the same time, they provide food, fire, building wood, shelter from the summer heat, creatures that give all this freely and are therefore a true image of the Lord’s free gifts and great love.
