“Nature is filled with words of love, but how can we listen to them amid constant noise, interminable and nerve-wracking distractions, or the cult of appearances?” (LS 225). Every day we can choose to be “peacemakers”; we can be those who have learned the art of peace, practice it and know that it must be sought always and in any way. The highest expression of the desire for peace in the world is expressed in the willingness to pursue it even to the point of one’s own sacrifice and not by inflicting suffering on others. “True shalòm and true inner balance flow from the peace of Christ, coming from his Cross and generating a new humanity” (Pope Francis).
