Gratuitousness is a concept that directly speaks of God who created everything out of a need for infinite love. If this is understood, it is normal to consider life an opportunity to reciprocate this love with every being around us, without expecting anything in return. Thus, the desire to prevail, to be superior in any way to our brothers and sisters, as well as to all the other creatures in the surrounding world, is going to wear off. Justice and peace, respect and tenderness become, then, natural and spontaneous concepts (LS 237).
