We came from the earth and to it we shall return. The land is good and fruitful, but it awaits to be plowed, sown, fertilized and watered to produce abundant fruit for all of its sons and daughters. We have “the duty to protect it and to ensure its fruitfulness for coming generations” (LS 67). The earth does not belong to us, because it only belongs to the Creator. Its fruits are not an exclusive property, but a precious gift to be administered and shared with those in need.
