Fr. Fabio Baggio
General Director
Member of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo.
He gained a doctorate in Church history at the Pontifical Gregorian University in 1998.
Fr. Baggio worked as a pastor in Santiago del Chile from 1995 to 1997, and was also advisor for migrations to the Chilean bishops’ conference (INCAMI). Afterwards until 2002, he served as director of the Department for Migration of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires.
From 1999-2010, he taught at the Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires as well as the Ateneo de Manila and the Maryhill School of Theology at Quezon City in the Philippines, where he was director of the Scalabrini Migration Center (SMC).
From the year 2000 he was also professor at the Scalabrini International Migration Institute (SIMI), which is incorporated into the theology Faculty of the Pontifical Urban University in Rome. He became its director in 2010.
From 1 January 2017 he is serving as Under-Secretary of the Migrants and Refugees Section of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
On April 23, 2022, the Holy Father appointed him Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
On February 2, 2023, Fr. Baggio was also appointed by Pope Francis as Director General
of the of the Laudato Si’ Center for Higher Education.
Antonino Errigo
General Secretary
In his career has occupied top management positions in Companies of Real Estate and Green Energies fields. Actually is Managing Partner and COO in a leading real estate asset manager company. Before joining the current company in 2013 he was the managing director of an advisory and investment company mainly focused on real estate, non-performing loans, and green energy where, from 2007, he supervised advisory and investment operations.
From 2005 to 2007 Nino was a senior fund manager in one of the most important Italian asset managers, where he was responsible for the asset management of five real estate funds with assets of EUR 1bn. He previously had ten years of experience as a energy and real estate asset manager in the most important Italian energy provider, and was involved in all the M&A operations and development projects.
Errigo holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering from Pisa University and attended a master course organized by S.A.A. (Scuola Amministrazione Aziendale), in Turin.
On February 2, 2023, Antonino Errigo was also appointed by Pope Francis as Secretary of Directors Board
of the Laudato Si’ Center for Higher Education.
Sr. Alessandra
Smerilli
Member of Board of Directors
Daughter of Mary Help of Christians in 1997 after a period of theological formation at the Pontifical Lateran University.
She graduated in Economics from Roma Tre University in 2001, and obtained a PhD in Political Economy from La Sapienza University of Rome (2006) and a PhD in Economics from East Anglia University (Norwich, UK 2014). In 2016, he carried out research activities at the University of Pennsylvania.
Her research interests are related to economic theories of cooperation and value-based organisations. She has authored several publications on these topics.
She is full professor of Political Economy at the Auxilium Faculty of Education. She has taught Economics of Cooperation at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Milan) and the LUMSA University (Rome), Economics, Ethics and Finance at the Pontifical Salesian University (Rome) and International Economics at the Pontifical Lateran University. Since 2006 to 2023 she collaborated with the Italian Episcopal Conference for the Social Weeks of Catholics.
In 2018 she participated as an auditor at the Synod on “Youth, faith, vocational discernment”. Since 2019 to 2024 she was a Vatican State Councillor and Consultant to the General Secretariat for the Synod.
Since April 2020 she has been collaborating with the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development as Coordinator of the Task Force Economy in the Vatican Commission for Covid-19 and since March 2021 she has held the position of Undersecretary at the same Dicastery.
On 26 August 2021, the Holy Father appointed her as interim Secretary of the Dicastery and Delegate for the Vatican Covid-19 Commission, confirming her in this role on 23 December 2021.
On 23 April 2022, the Holy Father appointed her as Secretary of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
On February 2, 2023, Sr. Smerilli was also appointed by Pope Francis as a Board of Directors Member
of the Laudato Si’ Center for Higher Education.
Francesca
Busnelli

Occupational and Organisational Psychologist. She is a founding partner of Studio Aliante. Currently Director of the Institute of Pedagogical Methodology at the Salesian Pontifical University.
Graduated in Educational Psychology at The Salesian Pontifical University and in Occupational and Organisational Psychology at the University “La Sapienza” of Rome, she continued her studies specialising in the Master’s Degree “Training Trainers” at the Psychosociological Analysis Studio APS in Milan.
She has been working for 30 years in the field of training and human resources development: her activities focus mainly on Project Management, Individual Counseling and Team Work Construction and Management.
She managed the Training sector of the Italian Foundation for Volunteering for 15 years.
She is a consultant and trainer for numerous organisations (belonging to the for-profit world, the third sector and public administration and Religious institutions).
She has worked as an invited lecturer with La Sapienza University of Rome and Roma Tre University and the European University of Rome. He is currently a stabilised lecturer at the Salesian Pontifical University and an invited lecturer at the Auxilium Faculty of Education.

Don Paolo Nicolini
Administrative Management Director
Incardinated priest in the Diocese of Rome since 2001. He obtained a Baccalaureate in Theology and then furthered his theological studies in Rome at the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family.
He has been in Rome since 1996. Vice Rector and Bursar of the Collegium Lateranense, since 1999 he has been Secretary of the International Lateran Association and of the Civitas Lateranensis Foundation. Since 2000 he has been Head of the Promotion and Development Office of the Pontifical Lateran University, of which he became Bursar in 2004. In the same year he was also appointed Bursar of the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family. In 2008, he was appointed Secretary of the Foundation “Benedict XVI pro matrimonio et familia“. In 2018 Pope Francis appointed him Extraordinary Commissioner of the Civitas Lateranensis Foundation.
On 21 August 2005, he was appointed Chaplain to His Holiness.
Since 2007, he has been at the Directorate of the Vatican Museums, where he holds the position of Administrative-Management Delegate, Administrative Manager and Administrator-Liquidator of the Publications and Reproductions Sales Office.
On 13 November 2019, Pope Francis appointed him Deputy Director for the administrative – Management of the Vatican Museums and His delegate for the tourist, museum and cultural activities of the Pontifical Villas of Castel Gandolfo.
On February 22, 2023, Nicolini was also appointed by Pope Francis as administrative management director
of the Laudato Si’ Center for Higher Education.
